With both teams looking to right the ship after recent losing skids, Northern Illinois welcomes UMass to Huskie Stadium in DeKalb on Saturday afternoon. After winning their opening two games including an upset victory over Notre Dame, Northern Illinois has dropped its last two contests to fall to 2-2 on the season. The Huskies are 1-1 at home and 0-1 in conference play as they wrap up their non-conference schedule. UMass, on the other hand, dropped to 1-4 on the season with an 0-3 road record. Northern Illinois has won both of the previous two matchups between these teams, including a 63-19 victory in 2013.

Most recently, Northern Illinois fell on the road to NC State in a 24-17 loss in Raleigh last week. NC State turned the Northern Illinois offense over four times, including two fumbles inside the two-yard line. Running back Antario Brown gained 114 rushing yards on 28 attempts to record his first 100-yard rushing game of the season while quarterback Ethan Hampton threw for 159 yards.
As for UMass, the Minutemen fell in overtime to Miami (Ohio) by a final score of 23-20 in Oxford at Yager Stadium on Sautrday. Jakobie Keeney-James had a career-high 150 yards and a 64-yard grab. Quarterback Taisun Phommachanh threw for 173 yards and a touchdown on just nine completions.
