Behren Morton and Texas Tech will take the field against John Mateer and Washington State on Saturday night.
The Texas Tech Red Raiders will head on the road in the second week of college football to take on the Washington State Cougars at Gesa Field in Pullman, Washington, on a 76-degree and cloudy Saturday night. The Red Raiders narrowly escaped the first week of the season with a win beating Abilene Christian by just one point in overtime at home in a game that produced 103 total points. Behren Morton was about as effective as a quarterback can be. He threw 42 times completing 30 passes for 378 yards and five touchdowns with zero interceptions. Most of those went to Josh Kelly who pulled 10 receptions for 156 yards and a touchdown. Coy Eakin followed him with 76 yards and two touchdowns. Tahj Brooks led the ground game for Texas Tech with 27 carries for 153 yards and a touchdown. He averaged 5.7 yards per attempt.

The Cougars also came away with a win in their first week beating Portland State at home in another high-scoring affair that produced 100 total points. They won 70-30. John Mateer went 11-for-17 with 352 yards and five touchdowns averaging 20.7 yards per completion. Kyle Williams, the team’s leading receiver in the game, had 141 yards on four receptions with two touchdowns.
Wayshawn Parker led the ground game averaging 12.0 yards per carry with 96 yards on eight carries. Mateer also had two carries for 55 yards and another touchdown with his leg. This will be a high-scoring matchup between two strong offenses.
