Temple will head to Texas in Week 13 of the college football season on Friday night. In San Antonio, they will take on UTSA at the Alamodome. The Roadrunners are 5-5 overall this season and 3-3 against teams in the American Athletic Conference. They picked up a win last week against North Texas after senior running back Robert Henry broke loose for 68 yards and two touchdowns on 20 carries. That marks their second straight win after also defeating Memphis, 44-36, the week before.
Sophomore quarterback Owen McCown left that first win with 280 yards and five touchdowns through the air with another 28 yards on the ground on five carries. Their other conference win came against FAU two weeks prior, with a loss to Tulsa in the middle. In the 38-24 win, McCown led the team again with 340 yards and two touchdowns with two interceptions through the air. Houston Thomas caught three passes for 63 yards.
The Owls have won just three games this season and are 3-7 overall. Also, in the AAC, they are 2-4 against conference teams, sitting fourth from last with just two 1-5 and a 0-6 team behind them. Their lone conference win came last week in an overtime thriller, beating Florida Atlantic 18-15.
Dante Wright caught 14 passes for 147 yards on Evan Simon’s 24 completions for 218 yards. They lost the two games prior to that win against Tulane and East Carolina. Their other conference win came at home against Tulsa in a 10-point win. Simon threw for 297 yards while Terrez Worthy ran 12 times for 41 yards and a score.
