With the home team opening the season with two consecutive wins including one against a ranked opponent, Syracuse hosts Stanford at the JMA Wireless Dome on Friday night. The Orange will play their third straight home game with wins in their first two contests to start the season on a high note. Syracuse took down Ohio by double-digits in its season opener, and then stunned No. 23 Georgia Tech to open conference play with a win. Stanford, on the other hand, bounced back from a loss to TCU in their opening game with a win over Cal Poly to even its record at 1-1. Both teams are coming off bye weeks to play the first matchup against each other in school history.

Most recently, Syracuse pulled off the upset by taking down No. 23 Georgia Tech by a final score of 31-28 on Sept. 7 in the dome. Syracuse quarterback Kyle McCord led the Orange to its first ACC win of the Fran Brown era by throwing for a career-high 381 passing yards. LeQuint Allen Jr. also added 130 yards from scrimmage with 83 rushing yards and 47 receiving yards.
As for Stanford, the Cardinal got back on track with a 41-7 win over Cal Poly heading into its bye week. Stanford dominated the second half with Tiger Backmeier sparking a blowout win with a 90-yard punt return for a touchdown. Ashton Daniels threw for 221 yards and two touchdowns in the win as well.
