The Beavers won their first week of the year against Idaho State at home last week in dominant fashion 38-15. They went up 17-9 at the half and proceeded to score three more touchdowns in the second half to just one for Idaho. Gevani McCoy led the team under center with 114 yards on nine completions with one touchdown. He averaged 11.4 yards per completion with a 55.5 QBR. Jam Griffin and Anthony Hankerson owned the game on the ground. The pair of backs carried the ball a total of 44 times for 315 yards and four touchdowns. Griffin led in yards and Hankerson in carries; they both had two touchdowns each. On the receiving end, it was David Wells Jr. who stood out amongst the rest. He had two receptions for 63 yards and a touchdown proving his dominance as a deep threat.

    The Aztecs were also winners of their first game beating Texas A&M Commerce at home 45-14. Despite scoring just three points in the entire first half, San Diego State put up 21 points in the third quarter and another 21 points in the fourth quarter to end the game with 45 points.

    Danny O’Neil led the passing attack with 22 completions for 214 yards and two touchdowns. The ground attack was a huge part of this win too. Marquez Cooper ran 27 times for 223 yards and two touchdowns in the best performance of the game averaging 8.3 yards per carry. Louis Brown IV led all receivers with 91 yards and a touchdown.
