Minnesota will head on the road in Week 11 of the college football season to take on Big Ten opponent Rutgers at SHI Stadium in Piscataway, New Jersey, on Saturday afternoon. The Golden Gophers are 6-3 overall this season and 4-2 against teams in the Big Ten Conference. They are tied for the first-ranked team in the conference that isn’t ranked nationally. Their two conference losses came against Iowa at home, 31-14, and former No. 12 Michigan, 27-24, at home, in back-to-back weeks.
Since then, they knocked off former No. 11 USC at home, followed by UCLA, Maryland, and former No. 24 ranked Illinois on the road last week. Max Brosmer leads the team under center in his first year with Minnesota. The fifth-year senior from New Hampshire has 1,989 yards and 13 touchdowns with four interceptions. Darius Taylor leads the ground attack with 644 yards on 126 carries for eight touchdowns, averaging 5.1 yards per carry.
The Scarlet Knights are an even 4-4 this season with a 1-4 record against conference teams in the Big Ten. Their only conference win was against Washington, 21-18. They have lost four straight games heading into this week dropping games against Nebraska and USC on the road and UCLA and Wisconsin at home.
Senior Athan Kaliakmanis leads the team under center in his first season with Rutgers after transferring in from Minnesota. He has 1,650 yards and nine touchdowns through the air with five interceptions. He has a 58.6 season QBR. Kyle Monangai leads the rushing with 931 yards on 172 carries for 10 scores.
