Maryland will try to close out the home portion of its 2024 schedule strong on Saturday afternoon with Iowa coming to town for a Big Ten matchup.
In the early window in the Big Ten on Saturday, Maryland (4-6, 1-6 Big Ten) plays its final home game of the year at SECU Stadium. The Terrapins will welcome in Iowa (6-4, 4-3 Big Ten) for a conference matchup. This will be just the fifth ever meeting between the two programs, and the first since 2021. Iowa won that game 51-14 in College Park, and has won three meetings in a row since Maryland won the inaugural matchup back in 2014.

In addition to this being the final home game for Maryland, the Terrapins also need to win out to become bowl eligible for the fourth year in a row – something the program hasn’t done since the 1982 to 1985 seasons.
Iowa is already both eligible, but the Hawkeyes are trying to bounce back from a close 20-17 loss two weeks ago (they had a bye last week) to UCLA in Pasadena. Prior to that Kirk Ferentz’s team had won two games in a row and three-of-four, scoring at least 40 points while holding the opponent under 20 in all three games. Those wins came against Washington (40-16), Northwestern (40-14), and Wisconsin (42-10). Overall, Iowa has the fifth-best point differential in the Big Ten at plus-11.2 points per game.
Kickoff for this one is set for noon ET on Saturday from College Park. Catch the action on the Big Ten Network.
