Florida A&M will head on the road in Week 8 of the college football season to take on Jackson State at the Mississippi Veterans Memorial Stadium in Jackson, Mississippi, on Saturday afternoon. The Tigers come into this week with a 4-2 record and a bye week through the first seven weeks of the season. They are 2-0 in the Southwestern Athletic Conference – East Division just one game over their opponent. After losing their first game of the season, they have since lost just one game on the road at Grambling 41-20. In the other four games, they beat Lane College 58-7, Southern 33-15, Texas Southern 43-14, and most recently Alabama A&M 45-38. Jackson State’s starting quarterback, Jacobian Morgan, has thrown for 1,081 yards and 10 touchdowns with three interceptions to begin his junior year. His best receiver has been Joanes Fortilien. The sophomore receiver has 20 receptions for 385 yards and six touchdowns averaging 19.3 yards per reception.

The Rattlers are 3-2 heading into this week with a 1-0 record in the same conference and division as Jackson State. They won their season opener against Norfolk State by one point before beating SC State 22-18 the next week. They lost to the No. 12 ranked team in the nation Miami (FL) and Troy in back-to-back games. Last week, they took down Alabama State 28-13.
Senior quarterback Daniel Richardson leads the team under center this season. He has 1,183 yards and nine touchdowns with three interceptions. Jamari Gassett leads all receivers with 344 yards on 31 receptions for two touchdowns. The ground work has been handled largely by Thad Franklin Jr. who has 42 carries for 145 yards.
