The Anchor Bone Classic will take place on Saturday afternoon as Grand Valley State hosts Ferris State.
On Saturday afternoon, the Ferris State Bulldogs will travel to take on the Grand Valley State Lakers as the teams meet for the Anchor Bone Classic rivalry game. The game will take place at Lubbers Stadium in Allendale, Michigan and will see a sold out crowd as two of the best Division II football programs go head-to-head. The Bulldogs are currently 6-1 on the year and are riding a six-game win streak. The team opened the season up against Pittsburg State (Kansas), falling 19-3. It was an early wake-up call and the team heard the alarm. Since then, the Bulldogs have outscored their opponents 316-56 with the most recent game being a 51-13 victory against Michigan Tech. Trinidad Chambliss went 18-30 with 383 yards before Chase Carter came in to go 1-2 for 16 yards. Chambliss also rushed for 90 yards to lead the team on foot.

The Lakers are still undefeated this season at 7-0 and have also been winning handily against their competition. Most recently, the team played GLIAC opponent Saginaw Valley State, earning a 16-9 victory on the road. Avery Moore had 13 completed passed for Grand Valley and finished the game with 184 yards passing with one touchdown. He also led the team in rushing with 28 yards, followed by Khalil Eichelberger who rushed for 19 yards in the win.
GVSU has now won 19 consecutive GLIAC games and 16 consecutive regular season games. Saturday’s game will certainly be one to watch as the teams look to hold onto their win streaks with only four regular season games remaining.
