Coming into the 2024 season, Colorado State (7-3, 5-0 Mountain West) was picked to finish fifth in the Mountain West in the Preseason Media Poll. Fast forward four months and the Rams control their own destiny for a spot in the Conference Championship Game with two games to go. As one of two teams left without a conference loss along with No. 13 Boise State, the Rams just need to win out to clinch what would be their first ever appearance in the title game. They have two more games to go, including their final road game of the season this Saturday night a Fresno State (5-5, 3-3 Mountain West) team originally picked to finish third in the conference with four first place votes.

Colorado State comes into this game after picking up a big rivalry win last week against Wyoming. The Rams good their first Border War rivalry series win since 2020, with a 24-10 victory. It was another strong defensive effort from a Colorado State team that leads the conference in scoring defense, allowing just 22.7 points per game through 10 games.
From a rivalry matchup to a less familiar one in conference, this Saturday’s game will be the first meeting between Colorado State and Fresno State since 2020. The Bulldogs took that game 38-17, but Colorado State leads the all-time series 10-6.
