In a matchup of two teams looking for their first bowl win in quite a few years, No. 24 UNLV and Cal meet in the LA Bowl.
The second of two bowl games on Wednesday has two West Coast teams meeting in Los Angeles, as California (6-6, 2-6 ACC) and No. 24 UNLV (10-3, 6-1 Mountain West) meet in the LA Bowl at SoFi Stadium. It’s the first trip to this relatively new bowl game for both programs. Each side is back in a bowl game for the season year in a row. Cal lost in the Independence Bowl last year, and is looking for its first bowl win since the Redbox Bowl in 2019. Meanwhile UNLV has made back-to-back bowls for the first time in program history. The Rebels lost the Guaranteed Rate Bowl last year, and are looking for their first bowl since since the Las Vegas Bowl in 2000.

Cal comes in looking to put a bow on its first season as a member of the ACC. The year started on a high note, and the Golden Bears even hosted College GameDay for the first time back in early October. However they went 2-6 in conference play but that did include a 24-21 win over rival Stanford.
UNLV meanwhile has its first 10-plus win season since 1984. A win on Wednesday would be their 11th this year, tying the program record.
The Rebels’ only two losses in the regular season this year came against Syracuse and playoff-bound No. 8 Boise State. UNLV got a second shot at Boise State in the Mountain West Conference championship game two weeks ago, but lost that one as well.
