Alcorn State won its second game of the season last week over Mississippi Valley State to improve to 2-3 on the season and 1-0 in conference play. The Braves are 1-0 at home compared to just a 1-3 mark on the road. Arkansas Pine-Bluff, on the other hand, has dropped two consecutive games to fall to 1-3 overall as it looks for its first conference win. Alcorn State has won three consecutive games over Pine-Bluff, including a 31-7 win last season.

Most recently, Alcorn State took down Mississippi Valley State in a 42-21 victory in Itta Bena last week. Jacorian Sewell ran for 164 rushing yards on 12 attempts, including a 55-yard touchdown run. Quarterback Xzavier Vaugh also added 105 passing yards and a five-yard rushing touchdown, while Deablo McGee hauled in four catches for 60 yards.
As for Arkansas-Pine Bluff, the Golden Lions fell to Central Arkansas by a final score of 56-17 last Saturday at Simmons Bank Field. Mekhi Hagens led UAPB’s with 239 passing yards and two touchdows while also rushing for 25 yards in the loss. After leading briefly early in the game, Central Arkansas pulled away with 42 unanswered points.
