The first game between the sixth-seeded Phoenix Suns and third-seeded Minnesota Timberwolves in the first round of the Western Conference playoffs is one of the most fascinating matchups. During the regular season, Phoenix swept the three-game series including the regular season finale that helped the team avoid the Play-In Tournament and locked in this matchup. Phoenix won all three games by a combined 47 points, including a 19-point win in the season finale in Minnesota. In those three games Phoenix averaged 118.3 points per game against Minnesota while allowing just 102.5 points per game. This season Phoenix was one of only four teams to average over 110-plus points per game in three games minimum against the vaunted Minnesota defense this season.
Phoenix will look to shoot its way into the second round as one of the most efficient scoring teams in the league. For Minnesota, it is all about the defense this season. They have allowed 100 points or less in 54 games this season going 48-6 overall.
