Ja Morant and the Memphis Grizzlies host the young and exciting Washington Wizards.
The Memphis Grizzlies (5-4) are coming off an impressive 131-114 win over the Los Angeles Lakers. In fact after a modest 2-3 start through the first five games of the season Memphis has gone 3-1 over its last four games and is starting to play really good team basketball. They look to keep that momentum going against the Washington Wizards (2-4). Through the first two and a half weeks of the regular season Washington has played the least amount of games, but start a tough five game road trip here against Memphis. This road trip is part of a stretch where this young Washington team will play nine of the next 13 games on the road to close out the month.

During this stretch for Memphis defense has been the key to its success. In the first five games of the season they were giving up 121.6 points per game to opponents, but have remedied that by allowing just 106.5 points per game to opponents over the last four games.
With the defense playing a much more consistent brand of basketball it has helped Memphis stay competitive despite injuries starting to build up again early in the season. The team will be without Ja Morant (hip), Desmond Bane (oblique), Marcus Smart (ankle) and several role players for this game.
Washington will try to take advantage of a shorthanded Memphis to snap a two game losing streak and start this road trip with a win. Jordan Poole is off to a great start this season averaging 22.5 points, 5.0 assists and a league-leading 2.8 steals per game on 45.3% shooting from three.
