The Charlotte Hornets try to break a six-game losing streak but the Oklahoma City Thunder are rolling on a nine-game winning streak heading into this Saturday night matchup.
The Oklahoma City Thunder continue to runaway with the Northwest standings when they travel to take on the Charlotte Hornets on Saturday. The Thunder have won nine games in a row because the loss to Milwaukee in the NBA Cup does not count against regular season records. They also hold a eight-game lead over the Denver Nuggets who are the closest competitor in the division. The Thunder are coming off a 120-114 win over the Indiana Pacers on Thursday where Shai Gilgeous-Alexander was just brilliant once again. SGA not only led the night with 45 points but it matched his career-high in points scored.

The game was close though, even closer than the final score would indicate. The Pacers and Thunder had 11 lead changes across the game and the Thunder did not lead until the third quarter. Gilgeous-Alexander hit a clutch three to put OKC up five with just 59 seconds left in the game to secure the win. It also helped that the Thunder only committed three turnovers compared to Indiana’s 11. The Thunder will be the heavy favorite even though they have five players that are game-time decisions including defensive catalyst Alex Caruso who missed last game with a strained hip. The Thunder are 12.5-point favorites on the road tonight.
The Hornets are on a very different streak losing six in a row and have lost 14 of their last 15 games. Charlotte is coming off a very tough close loss against the Washington Wizards on Thursday by a 113-110 final. Jordan Poole hit a three-pointer with just 8.1 seconds to win the game finishing with 25 points. LaMelo Ball had a game-high 31 points but is listed as a game-time decision. They’ll need their star to have any shot against upsetting OKC even at home tonight.
