Two teams off to slow starts look for momentum on Wednesday when the Toronto Raptors visit the Charlotte Hornets.
The Toronto Raptors (1-3) and Charlotte Hornets (1-2) have matching two-game losing streaks as they get set to face-off on Wednesday night at the Spectrum Center in Charlotte. Toronto rookie Ja’Kobe Walker remains out with a shoulder injury, while Bruce Brown (knee) hasn’t practiced in a week. Guard Immanuel Quickley (pelvis) and center Kelly Olynyk (back) didn’t play Monday and are day-to-day. The Hornets are dealing with issues as well. Second-year wing Brandon Miller is out with a glute strain, while center Mark Williams (foot) and wing DaQuan Jeffries (hand) have yet to suit up this season and wing Josh Green (Achilles) is day-to-day.

The Raptors blew a 10-point lead in the final 2:17 of regulation in their 127-125 overtime loss to the visiting Denver Nuggets on Monday. Scottie Barnes finished with 21 points, 12 rebounds, nine assists and five steals, while RJ Barrett — making his first appearance of the season — added 20 points. Jakob Poeltl had 16 points and 19 boards.
LaMelo Ball scored 27 points, but it wasn’t enough on Saturday, as Charlotte fell to the visiting Miami Heat 114-106. Nick Richards added 12 points, 12 rebounds and three blocked shots.
Barnes averages 19.3 points and 6.0 assists, while Poeltl puts up 12.3 points and 11.8 boards a night. Ball is scoring 31.7 points per game while dishing 7.3 assists an outing. Richards averages 10.0 points, 11.0 rebounds and 2.0 blocks and reserve guard Tre Mann knocks down 18.3 points per game.
