Kevin Durant and Devin Booker start the season for the Phoenix Suns against the Los Angeles Clippers on Wednesday.

The Phoenix Suns start the season on the road against the Los Angeles Clippers in a Pacific Division rivalry game on Wednesday. Heading into this season Phoenix has sky high expectations with the best overall roster surrounding a healthy Kevin Durant and Devin Booker. This summer Kevin Durant and Devin Booker starred for Team USA, winning a Gold Medal at the Paris Olympics. They look to carry that momentum into the regular season. New head coach Mike Budenholzer gives the team a championship voice, refreshed after taking a season off and returning to the bench this time for his hometown team. All the ingredients are there for Phoenix this season to make a run at the franchise’s first championship with Bradley Beal, Jusuf Nurkic, Tyus Jones, Grayson Allen and one of the deepest rosters in the league.

Last season Phoenix finished 49-33, sixth in the Western Conference, before being swept in the first round of the playoffs. Durant was healthy the majority of the season, but with Beal only playing 53 games the “big three” were not able to build any momentum in the regular season.

This season Phoenix has more stability at point guard with Jones and Monte Morris after going through a full season without a traditional facilitator on the roster. Jones is known for his efficiency. Last season he finished second in the NBA in assist-to-turnover ratio among players to play at least 60 or more games, while shooting 41.4 percent from three.

For Los Angeles, this is the first season in the team’s new arena, the Intuit Dome. The Clippers will start the season with two-time NBA Finals MVP Kawhi Leonard (knee) on the mend, handing the keys of the offense over to James Harden to try and get Los Angeles off to a strong start.

    Regional restrictions may apply.
