Paul George and the Philadelphia 76ers take on Jayson Tatum and the Boston Celtics in a preseason matchup today.
The Boston Celtics picked up right where they left off last season as NBA Champions with back-to-back wins to start the preseason. They are back home after two games in Abu Dhabi to host the Philadelphia 76ers, who look to contend with Boston for an NBA Championship this season. Paul George made his Philadelphia debut after signing with the team in the offseason going for 23 points and six rebounds in 26 minutes. He led the team in scoring while Tyrese Maxey picked his spots next to his new co-star finishing with 21 points on 4-7 shooting from three. That duo is still waiting for Joel Embiid to join the team, forming the newest big three chasing the franchise’s first championship in over 40 years.

In place of Embiid to start the preseason, newly signed Andre Drummond has looked good as the team’s starting center. Drummond has 21 points and 22 rebounds on 9-16 shooting from the field in 38 minutes.
For Boston, the team picked up two wins against the Denver Nuggets in its first two preseason games. Through two games the core four starters have played limited minutes as they get ready for the season. Jayson Tatum has broken out of his shooting slump after missing all of his three-pointers in the Olympics and shooting just 25.3% in the NBA Finals. He has shot 6-14 from three to start the preseason heading into this game.
Payton Pritchard has come off the bench looking ready for the regular season. He is averaging 17.5 points and 5.5 assists per game on 8-15 shooting from three. Last season Pritchard had a career-best season coming off the bench as a key contributor for Boston’s NBA Finals run.
