Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks host Franz Wagner and the Orlando Magic on Sunday to close out the second week of the season.
The Orlando Magic (4-3) hit the road with a massive void on their roster. All-Star Paolo Banchero (oblique) is out for this game and the next four to six weeks after coming out of the gates this season as one of the best players in the league. Banchero leaves a 29.0 point per game void for Franz Wagner, Jalen Suggs and the rest of Orlando to fill as they take on the Dallas Mavericks (3-2) to close out the second week of the regular season. Luka Doncic is looking to get Dallas back in the win column after a tough loss. Even with Banchero out of the lineup for this game, Orlando will be a tough opponent. Last season it swept the season series against Dallas.

In Orlando’s first full game without Banchero in the lineup Suggs led the team with 28 points, eight rebounds, seven assists and three steals. Wagner had to navigate being the focal point of the defense, finishing with 17 points, eight rebounds and six assists.
Doncic will look to crack the Orlando defense with his scoring and playmaking. Through five games Doncic is averaging career-lows across the board despite still filling up the statsheet like only he can. He is averaging 27.2 points, 8.4 rebounds and a career-low 6.0 assists per game.
Part of why Doncic is less productive is the play of Kyrie Irving and the team’s overall pace. Irving is sharing the scoring and playmaking burden with 24.6 points and 5.6 assists per game. Dallas is also 24th in pace, 22nd in points per game and just 14th in offensive rating, as the team tries to find its footing after a run to the NBA Finals last season.
