LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers wrap-up group play in the NBA Cup against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
The Los Angeles Lakers (11-7) are going to need a win and some help to repeat as NBA Cup Champions this season. The reigning and only NBA Cup Champions are 2-1 in group play, but a 27 point loss in its last game gives Los Angeles the worst point differential of teams in contention to make the quarterfinals. They take on the best team in the Western Conference in the Oklahoma City Thunder (14-4). Heading into this game Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has Oklahoma City back on track winning three straight games fueled by one of the best team defenses in the league. They will try and slow down Lebron James who has become a triple-double machine in his 22nd season.

James is coming off his sixth triple-double of the season through 18 games. He is on pace to shatter his personal single-season record for triple-doubles in a season (18) and join Russell Westbrook, Oscar Robertson and Nikola Jokic as the only players ever with 130 triple-doubles in their career.
Oklahoma City is finding its defensive identity again despite Chet Holmgren (hip) being out for the last eight games. Isaiah Hartenstein has stepped in to fill that void with three straight double-doubles averaging 15.3 points, 12.7 points, 3.3 assists and 2.0 blocks per game on 57.1% shooting.
With Hartenstein in the lineup the offense opens up more for Gilgeous-Alexander and Jalen Williams. The duo have been on fire the last three games combining for 57.0 points, 14.4 assists and 11.7 rebounds per game during Oklahoma City’s current three game winning streak.
