The NBA Cup continues with its second round of matches, following the thrilling first round that took place on Tuesday night. The Miami Heat took on the Detroit Pistons at Little Caesars Arena, in a match that saw Tyler Herro pop off for 40 points, five rebounds and eight assists. Despite a historic night from the former Kentucky guard, the Heat lost in a two-point overtime nail-biter, with Cade Cunningham and Malik Beasley leading the Pistons with 21 points apiece. Miami head coach Erik Spoelstra uncharacteristically called a timeout with none remaining which led to the loss for the Heat.

In other NBA Cup action, the Boston Celtics lost by one point to the Atlanta Hawks at the TD Garden. Dyson Daniels led the Hawks with 28 points and seven assists on the night, while Jalen Johnson added 18 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists.
Meanwhile, the New York Knicks took a 111-99 finish over the Philadelphia 76ers at the Wells Fargo Center. The Tom Thibadeau-led team was led by O.G. Anunoby, who put up 24 points to go along with six rebounds.
Furthermore, Josh Hart added 14 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists on the night. Finally, Karl-Anthony Towns put up 21 points, 13 rebounds and six assists.
To round out the first round of NBA Cup play, the Golden State Warriors took a 120-117 finish over the Dallas Mavericks on Tuesday, behind 37 points, six rebounds and nine assists from Steph Curry.
