On the final day of group play in the NBA Cup both the Memphis Grizzlies (14-7) and Dallas Mavericks (13-8) control their fate. To a degree. With a win Memphis and Dallas both remain in the mix for a spot in the quarterfinals. With a loss, they are eliminated from the tournament. Heading into this game Memphis is playing its best basketball of the season winning six straight games to vault up to third in the Western Conference standings. Dallas is right there with them riding a four game winning streak while also welcoming back Luka Doncic after the All-NBA star missed the previous five games. In those five games Dallas went 4-1 led by Kyrie Irving.

Doncic was masterful in his return finishing with 36 points, 13 assists, seven rebounds and three steals. Dallas continued its winning ways with Doncic back in the lineup and Irving sitting out for the teams eighth win in nine games.
For Memphis this six game winning streak is the longest of the season for the team and tied for the longest active streak in the league. The offense has been rolling, scoring 117 points or more in each win and 120 in five of the six games.
They are playing some of the best team basketball in the league and at the second fastest pace. Right now Memphis is first in the league in assists per game and second in pace, which has fueled the second highest scoring offense led by Ja Morant, Desmond Bane and Jaren Jackson Jr.
