Klay Thompson will be a game-time decision with a foot injury when the Dallas Mavericks host the New York Knicks Wednesday.
Both the New York Knicks and Dallas Mavericks have won four of their last five games when they face off in this primetime Wednesday night showdown on ESPN. The Knicks are second in the Atlantic Division and inching up on Boston. Dallas is only two games back of Houston in the Southeast standings. Both teams are coming off impressive wins, but New York has the standout victory, beating the Denver Nuggets 145-118 on the road on Monday. OG Anunoby set a career-high with 40 points and Jalen Brunson added 23 and 17 assists. The Knicks were most impressive by being unselfish with the ball, dishing out a team record-tying 40 assists which was last set in 1979.
The Knicks shot more than 60 percent against a Nuggets team that didn’t look anywhere near their championship selves. Denver finished the night with just seven rebounds and they didn’t have an answer with its MVP scoring 22 points. Denver was 33-8 last season at home, but are 5-4 after being exposed by the Knicks. New York should be the favorite against Dallas even on the road with a 7-3 record in its last 10 games.

Dallas bounced back nicely from an overtime loss against Miami by beating the Atlanta Hawks on Monday 129-119. Kyrie Irving led the Mavs with 32 points along with six assists and seven rebounds. Jaden Hardy also stepped up big in his first start of the season with a season-high 23 points.
Irving had 10 points at half but figured out the Atlanta defense to pull out an important win of this 15-game stretch where Dallas plays 11 road games. That makes this home game that much more important.
