The Miami Heat (2-1) have shaken off a blowout loss in their opener with two straight wins and on Wednesday night will look to make it three in a row when they host the New York Knicks (1-2) at the Kasaya Center in Miami. New York is struggling with frontcourt depth, with Precious Achiuwa out with a strained hamstring and Mitchell Robinson likely out until January as he recovers from an ankle injury. Wing Josh Hart (leg) is day is day-to-day after leaving Monday’s game. Veteran stretch big Kevin Love has yet to play for the Heat due to personal reasons.

Miami slapped the defensive clamps on the visiting Detroit Pistons in the fourth quarter on Monday night, holding them to 27.3 percent shooting, while coming from behind for a 106-98 win. Jimmy Butler scored 23 points and handed out seven assists, Terry Rozier scored 20 points and Bam Adebayo finished with 12 points, 10 rebounds and three blocks.
The Knicks were overwhelmed in the fourth quarter Monday night by the unbeaten Cleveland Cavaliers in a 110-104 loss at Madison Square Garden. Jalen Brunson scored 21 points on 8-of-24 shooting to go with seven assists, Hart finished with 16 points and 13 rebounds and Karl-Anthony Towns notched 13 points and 10 boards before fouling out.
Brunson averages 23.0 points and 4.7 assists, Towns is getting 15.3 points and 10.7 rebounds per game and fellow new addition Mikal Bridges scores 18.7 points a night. Rozier’s 19.3 points per game leads the Heat, with Adebayo putting up 11.0 points and 8.7 rebounds, Butler 17.3 points and 6.7 assists and Tyler Herro netting 18.3 points per game.
