Cade Cunningham has the team playing its best basketball in years with improved shooting all around him. The additions of Malik Beasley, Im Hardaway Jr. and Tobias Harris have blended well with the rest of the young talent for Detroit. Cunningham has taken another leap this season and is on track to be a All-Star with the way he has played through 14 games. He is putting up career-highs across the board with 23.2 points, 8.6 assists and 7.1 rebounds per game. One of just five players this season averaging at least 20 points, eight assists and seven rebounds per game.

Detroit has improved drastically on the defensive end giving up the eighth fewest points per game by controlling the paint. They are seventh in blocked shots per game and defend inside the three-point line as well as any team in the league. With that improved defense and Cunningham ascending into a star this is the best Detroit team in years.

For Washington over the last seven games the team has flatlined on the defensive end. They are allowing 123.9 points per game during this stretch and are 30th in the league in points per game overall for the season.
