NBA preseason basketball got started with the last two champions squaring off in Abu Dhabi. The teams lock up again today with the Boston Celtics looking to pick a second win over the Denver Nuggets today. While this is just a preseason game and showcase for the NBA in another country, it was also another game between these championship teams decided by just one or two possessions. In the first game, Boston won 107-103 led by Payton Pritchard. He came off the bench to lead all scorers with 21 points, six assists and six made three-pointers. Pritchard led a bench that saw 13 different players log minutes combining for 68 total points.

The quartet of Jayson Tatum (12 points), Jaylen Brown (eight points), Jrue Holiday (four points) and Derrick White (nine points) combined for 33 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists with Kristaps Porzingis and Al Horford both sitting out the preseason game.
For Denver, this was the first look at Christian Braun as a full-time starter replacing Kentavious Caldwell-Pope. He finished with five points, five rebounds, three assists and a steal in 13 minutes. The rest of the starters combined for 36 points led by Nikola Jokic (14 points and eight rebounds) and Michael Porter Jr. (12 points on 1-3 shooting from three).
This was also the introduction of Russell Westbrook leading the bench unit. He finished the game with 12 points, eight assists and four rebounds while shooting 3-6 from three. Westbrook gives Denver a dimension that the team has not had in the Jokic era with his pace and playmaking.
