The Toronto Raptors host the Brooklyn Nets on Thursday for the first time this season.
The Toronto Raptors (7-20) head into this Atlantic Division rivalry game on Thursday against the Brooklyn Nets (10-16) looking to get back in the win column. Toronto has lost five straight games, just one away from the longest losing streak this season for the team. It will be without Scottie Barnes (ankle) again, who has been in-and-out of the lineup this season with injuries. That opens up the offense for RJ Barrett, who despite Toronto’s struggles is having his best season in the NBA. The six-year wing has thrived in 56 games with Toronto as a scorer, playmaker and shooter. He will try to get Toronto back in the win column against a Brooklyn team that just traded away arguably its best player in Denis Schroder this week.

This season Schroder is off to a career-best start with his seventh team in 12 seasons in the NBA. With Schroder off the roster Brooklyn will have to find 18.4 points, 6.6 assists and 2.5 made three-pointers per game for the rest of the season starting here.
This will open up more opportunities for Cam Johnson to showcase his playmaking abilities. Johnson is having a career-best season, averaging 18.6 points, 4.2 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game. He is already one of the best shooters in the league, now he will have more responsibility with the ball in his hands.
This also opens up more time for Ben Simmons who has shown some flashes of his old self. Simmons has at least eight assists in 10 of his 20 games this season. He has the opportunity to prove the offseason hype videos with Schroder no longer manning the point in Brooklyn.
