The New York Knicks take on the Brooklyn Nets again two days after a thrilling Jalen Brunson game-winner. Watch free on Fubo.
The battle for the Big Apple this season started off with one of the most exciting games between the New York Knicks (6-6) and Brooklyn Nets (5-8). After Brooklyn closed a 14 point gap in the fourth quarter and took a lead, Jalen Brunson and Mikal Bridges both made game-winning plays for New York. On New York’s final possession Brunson lulled his defender to sleep before pulling up for a three to take a 124-122 lead with just 6.0 seconds to go in the game. Brooklyn pushed the ball up the court immediately with Denis Schroder getting a great opportunity for a layup and the win. That opportunity was snatched out of the air by Bridges who closed the game with a block as time expired.

Brunson led the way for New York with 37 points and seven assists on 12-20 shooting from the field. New York was without Karl-Anthony Towns, opening up more opportunities for OG Anunoby (25 points) and Bridges (22 points) to fill his scoring void.
Brooklyn was led by Cam Thomas who finished with a game-high 43 points on 7-10 shooting from three. Those were both season highs for Thomas with the 43 points giving the dynamic scorer his ninth career 40-plus point game.
Schroder finished with 17 points and eight assists in the loss, coming just two points short of pulling off the win for Brooklyn. With the loss Brooklyn fell to 0-1 in the NBA Cup East Group A. New York is now 2-0 in group play with far and away the best point differential. They are potentially the favorites to win the second annual NBA Cup.
