How to Watch Nets at Hawks: Stream NBA Live, TV Channel

Trae Young leads the Atlanta Hawks in their NBA season opener at home against the Brooklyn Nets on Wednesday.

This season one of the biggest mysteries and wildcards in the NBA might be the Atlanta Hawks. After a disappointing season last year they kick-off the 2024-25 season on Wednesday against the Brooklyn Nets. Since being drafted by Atlanta with the fifth overall pick Trae Young has scored the sixth-most points and dished out the most assists in the NBA. He has been a one-man supernova on offense at times and will have the ball back in his hands the majority of the time after Atlanta ended the Dejounte Murray experiment. Young has a full roster of athletes and weapons to try and lead Atlanta back to the playoffs in rising star Jalen Johnson, Bogdan Bogdanovic, De’Andre Hunter, Clint Capela, Dyson Daniels and rookie wing Zaccharie Risacher.

Since finishing second in Rookie of the Year voting, Young has averaged at least 25 points and nine assists per game in five straight seasons. He is a three-time All-Star, peaking in 2021-22 season by making the All-NBA Third Team. Young has averaged a double-double in each of the last two seasons and looks to continue building on that this season.

The wildcards for Atlanta to get back to the playoffs this season are Johnson and Risacher. Atlanta made the playoffs three straight seasons before missing last year after being eliminated in the Play-In Tournament.

Last season Johnson broke out in a massive way averaging 16.0 points, 8.7 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game on 51.1 percent shooting from the field. He gives Young a secondary option on the wing and a potential All-Star running mate. Risacher also showed flashes in the preseason as a wing scorer and defender who is willing to do the little things that help teams win games.
