Franz Wagner and the Orlando Magic will take the court against Jared McCain and the Philadelphia 76ers on Friday night.
The Philadelphia 76ers will travel to Orlando, Florida, on Friday night in the group stage of the NBA Cup. There, they will take on the Orlando Magic at the Kia Center. The NBA Cup is the name for the in-season tournament that the NBA started last season. Teams are paired into groups and play group-stage games to determine who makes it to the knockout stage. The Magic are in Group A, along with the New York Knicks, Brooklyn Nets, Charlotte Hornets, and 76ers.
They are 1-0 in group play after beating the Hornets at home, 114-89. Franz Wagner dominated that game scoring 32 points with eight rebounds and five assists. Jalen Suggs and Mo Wagner had great games as well. Suggs finished with 17 points, four rebounds, and four assists. Wagner had 18 points and five rebounds in 24 minutes off the bench.
The 76ers have had a rough start to the season with some even indicating that the team should tank. They also started off the group play of the NBA Cup with a loss. Earlier this week, they welcomed in the Knicks to Wells Fargo Center and lost by 12 points, 111-99. Paul George led the team despite Joel Embiid being present.
George finished with 29 points, 10 rebounds, and three assists in 32 minutes. Jared McCain, the Duke rookie, has been balling in Tyrese Maxey’s place. He had 23 points and three rebounds off the bench. Embiid finished the game with 13 points on 2-of-11 shooting, three rebounds, and five assists.
