Hill is coming off a win in the second race of the Round of 8 with Allmendinger winning the first race. Mayer and (Sammy) Smith also have wins during the playoffs in the Round of 12. There was one other driver to win so far during the playoffs. That driver was Aric Almirola, who also won the first race this season on Martinsville Speedway in the regular season.
With their wins Hill and Allmendinger are locked into the Championship 4 race. Allgaier enters this race 35 points ahead of the elimination line with Custer holding a 28 point cushion. There are a lot of scenarios that could see another driver make the jump and clinch a slot in the Championship 4, but it will be tough to jump Allgaier and Custer this weekend.Â
The final race of the season will take place in Avondale, Arizona at Phoenix Raceway next week. Hill and Allmendinger are locked into the Championship 4. Who will join them after this weekend race on Martinsville Speedway?
