The NASCAR Xfinity Series hits the track at Iowa Speedway to practice for the HyVee Perks 250.
The NASCAR Xfinity Series is at Iowa Speedway this weekend for the HyVee Perks 250, with the cars set to hit the track on Friday for practice. This weekend marks a return to the track for NASCAR, with the Xfinity Series running here for the first time since 2019 and the Cup Series for the first time ever. In that July 2019 Xfinity Series race, Chase Briscoe ended the day in victory lane. The top five finishers in that race are all full-time Cup Series drivers now. Among current Xfinity regulars, Justin Allgaier had the best finish, ending up sixth.

Allgaier is the only current Xfinity Series regular in the field for Saturday’s race who has a win here in the series, taking victory back in 2018. Brett Moffitt, who is in the No. 19 this week for Joe Gibbs Racing, has a pair of Truck Series wins here. Parker Kligerman, Sheldon Creed, Chandler Smith and Brandon Jones all have ARCA wins here.
Cup Series drivers who are pulling double duty this week include John Hunter Nemechek, who has won here in the Truck Series, and Ross Chastain.
Last week in Portland, Shane Van Gisbergen won his second consecutive race However, Van Gisbergen hasn’t been nearly as competitive on ovals, so a third weekend in a row with a win might be asking a lot for him.
