Muay Thai, also known as Thai Boxing, is a fighting discipline that is full-contact using stand-up striking, sweeps and clinching, or trapping to defeat an opponent. The super lightweight division features fighters that weigh 140 pounds, five more pounds than lightweight and seven less than welterweight.
On the bottom left side of the bracket in the super lightweight division are Capitan vs. Turach and Petchthongchai vs. Khunjanlek. The winner of that match will face off in the quarterfinals. Over on the bottom right hand side of the bracket Neunglanlek vs. Flukenoi and Dam vs. Alfie Pearse. All eight of those fighters have a shot to join the other four that have already advanced to the quarterfinals out of the top half of the bracket.
The reigning RWS Super Lightweight Champion is Dam Parunchai, who won the championship for the first time in March of this year. He is in the top half of the bracket and will look to earn his way to the championship bout in the super lightweight division of this year’s tournament.
