The Kansas City Royals look to close out the Baltimore Orioles in Game 2 of their Wild Card round series on Wednesday afternoon.
The Kansas City Royals go for the series sweep of the Baltimore Orioles on Wednesday afternoon in Game 2 of their American League Wild Card series. The Royals shutout the Orioles on Tuesday in Game 1 to get them within a win of the ALDS. The Royals got a great start from Cole Ragans and three scoreless innings from the bullpen to take the lead in the series. Ragans went six innings without giving up a run. He struck eight and gave up just four hits. He and the relievers needed to give up no runs, as the offense managed just a single run.
Bobby Witt Jr. got the game-winning hit in the sixth and it was all the Royals would need. The Royals will now send Seth Lugo to the mound as they look to close out the series. Lugo went 16-9 with a 3.00 ERA in the regular season. The Royals lost his last three starts, though.
