Pete Alonso and the New York Mets will take the field against Mookie Betts and the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 1.
The New York Mets will head on the road for Game 1 of the NLCS against the Los Angeles Dodgers at Dodger Stadium in California on Sunday. The Mets have done the improbable! They made their way into the postseason with a win against the Atlanta Braves on the last day of the regular season grabbing the last NL Wild Card spot. They went on to beat the Milwaukee Brewers 2-1 in a best-of-three series in the Wild Card round. They won the first game 8-4, lost the second game 5-3, and late-game heroics from Pete Alonso won the last game 4-2. They made their way to the divisional round to take on the Philadelphia Phillies, who owned the second-best record in the National League. They won the first game 6-2 of that series before losing the second and leaving Philadelphia 1-1. Headed to New York, an Alonso and Jesse Winker home run propelled them to a 7-2 win. They closed out the series in Game 4 with a 4-1 win on a Francisco Lindor grand slam to win 4-1 after being down 1-0.

The Dodgers came into the National League side of the playoffs after a 98-win season, the best in Major League Baseball. However, the NLDS proved nothing easy for the league-leading team as it took all five games to defeat the San Deigo Padres. They won the first game 7-5 following it with an eight-run loss at home.
They lost the first game in San Deigo before bouncing back and winning in two shutout games 8-0 and 2-0 in the final games of the series. Mookie Betts, Will Smith, and Gavin Lux all homered in Game 4, while Teoscar Hernández and Enrique Hernández played the hero in Game 5 with two solo shots to send LA to the NLCS.
