The Milwaukee Brewers look to avoid elimination on Wednesday evening in Game 2 of their Wild Card series against the New York Mets.
The Milwaukee Brewers host the New York Mets on Wednesday night in Game 2 of their Wild Card series. The Brewers came up short in Game 1 and are on the verge of being eliminated from the playoffs. The Brewers scored two runs in the bottom of the first inning to take the lead, but gave up three in the top of the second. They would take the lead back in the bottom of the fourth, but it didn’t last long, as they gave up five runs in the top of the fifth. The Brewers wouldn’t score again and took the loss. They outhit the Mets eight to seven, but couldn’t convert those into enough runs. Wednesday they will send Frankie Montas to the mound as they try and even the series. Montas went 7-11 with a 4.84 ERA and 148 strikeouts. The Brewers have been playing well lately with him on the mound, as they have won three of his last four starts.

The Mets will counter with Sean Manaea as they try and earn a berth into the National League Division Series against the Phillies.
Manaea had a bounce back season this year, as he went 12-6 with a 3.47 ERA. He worked mostly out of the bullpen last season for the San Francisco Giants, but made 32 starts this year and pitched well for the Mets.
He did struggle in his last start last Friday against the Brewers, as he gave up six runs in just 3.2 innings. That loss snapped an eight-game winning streak for the Mets with him on the mound.
