Last night, the Yankees came from three runs down in the bottom of the ninth behind a three-run Aaron Hicks home run to tie the game at six apiece, then three-time All-Star Aaron Judge hit a bases-loaded single to left field, plating Jose Trevino to keep their winning streak alive.
Veteran righty Justin Verlander (8-3, 2.30 ERA) will take the mound for the Astros coming off his worst start of the 2022 season. Verlander exited in the fourth inning of Saturday’s loss to the White Sox after surrendering seven runs (four earned) on nine hits.
The Yankees will start Luis Severino (4-1, 3.27 ERA), who is looking for his first win since a stellar one-hit performance against Detroit on June 4.
With 117 home runs this season, the Yankees lead the league. They have 22 more than the Astros who rank third in home runs.
