The Diamondbacks will send struggling pitcher Zach Davies to the mound, who is 0-2 with an 8.31 ERA in his last three outings. Pittsburgh counters with Roansy Contreras, making his third start since being recalled from Triple-A Indianapolis but didn’t factor in the decision in either game.

Rookie Alek Thomas hit two of Arizona’s five home runs as the Diamondbacks took game one of the series by a final score of 8-6. The Diamondbacks also got home runs from Ketel Marte, who extended his hitting streak to 15 games and Christian Walker and Jake McCarthy also homered for Arizona in the win. Arizona hit back-to-back blasts with McCarthy and Thomas in the seventh inning.
Friday night’s win over the Pirates was the beginning of a ten-game road trip for Arizona, ending in Philadelphia next weekend.
