The Cleveland Guardians continue their season-opening road trip as the series begins against the Minnesota Twins.
The Minnesota Twins open their home schedule today inside Target Field as they begin a three-game series with the visiting Cleveland Guardians in an early-season American League Central Division matchup. The Guardians have started the season 5-2 winning a pair of series at Seattle and Oakland as today they turn to 25-year-old right-hander Tanner Bibee (0-0, 6.75 ERA) who will make his second start of the season after a breakout rookie campaign in 2023. The Twins will counter with southpaw Pablo Lopez (1-0, 1.29 ERA) off a dazzling start against Kansas City last Thursday where he struck out seven batters over seven innings in a 4-1 road win against the Royals.

Bibee went 10-4 with a 2.98 ERA last season with six wins coming in 10-game span in July and August. A fifth-round selection by Cleveland in the 2021 MLB Draft, Bibee finished his rookie season with 16 consecutive starts allowing three or less earned runs before landing on the Injured List with hip inflammation in September.
Minnesota left fielder Alex Kirilloff has started the season hitting .444 and is on a five-game hitting streak a year after posting career highs in hits, home runs, RBIs and batting average. Kirilloff comes into today three RBIs shy of 100 for his career.
The Twins ended 2023 losing in the Division Series to Houston in their fourth trip to the playoffs in seven seasons.
