This series between the Arizona Diamondbacks (4-5) and the Atlanta Braves (5-2) was a rematch from last season’s playoffs and a potential preview of the playoffs this season. The first two games delivered on the expectations with Atlanta winning both, but only by a combined two runs. Now in the third and final game of this series Arizona will look to get one win on a National League contender while Atlanta has the opportunity to close it out with a series sweep. In the first game Arizona jumped out to a 3-1 lead before losing 6-5 and then in the second game Arizona was hot out of the gates building a 6-0 lead in the first inning before falling 9-8 in the end.

Arizona will have to figure out the right mix of early offense and sustained offense to get the win today. They send right-hander Ryne Nelson (0-1) out on the mound to try and get that win. He has started one game this season, pitching just 2.2 innings and giving up five runs in a loss.
Atlanta counters with left-hander Chris Sale (0-0) who left his first start without a decision after pitching 5.1 innings, giving up two runs and striking out seven. The veteran has the opportunity to earn his first run of the season in the final game of what has been an exciting early season series.
With all the runs scored and Atlanta making two very impressive comebacks, there were only four total homeruns in the first two games of this series. One by each team in each of the first two games. The teams have put on a clinic of how to get on base and push runners across the plate in the first two games with Atlanta just edging out the two wins.
