Casey Lawrence and the Tacoma Rainiers will take the mound against Chris Ellis and the Reno Aces on Sunday afternoon.
The Tacoma Rainiers will stay on the road and take the field the field for the sixth and final time of this six-game series against the Reno Aces in Nevada. The Aces lead the series 4-1 through the first five games. The first game ended 4-6 in favor of Reno with Adrian Del Castillo hitting a ball out of the park with an RBI. In the second game of the series, Reno won 15-6. Albert Almora J. hit his fourth homer of the season while shortstop Sergio Alcántara hit his first home run of 2024. Reno won the first three games including a third by just one run 5-4. Andrés Chaparro had three hits with three RBIs in the win. Tacoma finally won a game in the fourth game of the series and the highest scoring 12-10. Center fielder Jonatan Clase hit his third homer of the season in the first inning and finished with three runs. Last night, Reno went back to winning 13-7. This time Kyle Garlick hit his ninth home run of the season and finished with three RBIs.
Casey Lawrence will get the start for the Seattle Mariners Triple-A affiliate, Tacoma, in this final game of the series. Lawrence is 0-4 this season with a 7.56 ERA and 16 strikeouts over 33.1 innings pitched. He last pitched on May 7th against Reno allowing five earned runs on 10 hits in 5.0 innings with four strikeouts in a game that ended in a loss.
On the other side, Chris Ellis will get the start in the top of the first for Reno in this game, the Arizona Diamondbacks Triple-A affiliate. The right-hander is 1-2 this season with a 5.84 ERA and seven strikeouts over 12.1 innings pitched. His last start was also May 7th against Tacoma where he went 5.0 innings allowing two earned runs on four hits with three strikeouts.
