The Mexican College Football season kicked off last week with all teams hoping to start off in the win column. Despite not being competitive the past couple of seasons, Borregos Salvajes Guadalajara ITESM shocked the league with a statement 35-17 victory over their counterparts from ITESM Campus Mexico City under the Friday night lights. Then, a couple of hours later, two simultaneous games sparked more action. In Monterrey, the Tigres UANL took on the Aztecas of UDLA. Despite a valiant effort from the Aztecas, the Tigres managed to impose their pace and dominated with a 28-10 win.

Meanwhile, in Mexico City, the Pumas UNAM put on a show for their fans, defeating the Leones of Universidad Anáhuac México Norte (UAMN).
However, it wasn’t an easy victory. The first half ended with a tight 10-3 score in favor of the Pumas, but in the second half, they extended their lead and sealed a solid 31-17 win.
Then, on Saturday, one of the most anticipated matchups was the classic UNAM vs. IPN clash, as the Pumas Acatlán hosted the Águilas Blancas.
The game featured a thrilling back-and-forth battle, with the Pumas Acatlán leading 18-17 by the end of the third quarter. However, the Águilas Blancas kicked into high gear in the fourth quarter, taking the win, 27-18.
Finally, in Puebla, the Borregos Puebla faced off against their counterparts, Borregos CEM. In a battle that was decided in the fourth quarter, Borregos Puebla proved why they are strong title contenders, defeating Borregos CEM 23-7 with a powerful display.
