Netherlands is coming off a 4-0 victory over Canada in a friendly on June 6. Memphis Depay, Jeremie Frimpong, Wout Weghorst and Virgil van Dijk each scored goals in the win. It was the second 4-0 victory of 2024 for the Netherlands team following a win over Scotland in March. Its other result this year was a 2-1 loss against Germany.
Iceland’s last match was a 1-0 win over England on June 7, with Jón Dagur Þorsteinsson scoring the winning goal. Iceland has been busy in 2024, playing five matches already, including a loss to Ukraine in a match that would have given it a spot in the Euro competition.
These teams last met in 2015, with Iceland winning 1-0. Netherlands last beat Iceland in 2009, while the teams haven’t drawn even since 1982.
