Clemson and Louisville face-off on Wednesday in the first round of the ACC College Soccer Tournament.
Historic Riggs Field is set to host the exciting mid-week matchup between Clemson men’s soccer and Louisville men’s soccer on Wednesday in the first round of the ACC Tournament. The Tigers head into the postseason tournament as the No. 2 seed in the conference, thanks to an ACC record of 5-2-1. The program is also sitting on an overall record of 11-2-3 heading into the competition. Meanwhile, the Cardinals head into the meeting as the No. 15 seed in the ACC, with a conference record of 0-5-3. Louisville also has an overall record of 6-6-4 this season.

The Tigers earned a hard-fought 2-2 draw at Virginia Tech on Friday night. Patrick Donovan came on in the 18th minute to replace Joseph Andema, promptly making a save to swing the momentum back in the Tigers’ favor.
The Hokies grabbed that momentum back, however, netting two quick goals in the 30’ and 32’ to take a 2-0 lead.
Then, Clemson cut the deficit in half just before the break, as reigning ACC Offensive Player of the Week Alex Meinhard found freshman Ransford Gyan crashing towards the goal for his third goal of the season in the 43’.
Finally, Joran Gerbet netted the equalizer in the 78’, heading in an assist from Gyan to tie the match at two and lock the Tigers into the No. 2 seed in the ACC Tournament.
Meanwhile, Louisville fell 3-2 at the hands of SMU on Friday night to finish the regular season at 6-6-4.
Earlier this fall, Clemson and Louisville squared-off in Kentucky, with the Cardinals taking a 2-0 lead. Clemson responded, however, with three goals in seven minutes to earn the 3-2 comeback victory.
