The second round of the Evian Championship on the LPGA Tour will take place on Friday. It marks the fourth major championship of the season.
The top female golfers in the world are in the field at the Evian Championship and the fourth major of the season. The first round of action on Thursday marks one of the last few times the golfers will have a chance to prepare for the 2024 Olympics in Paris. Each of the top 10 players in the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings qualified for the Olympics, including world No. 1 Nelly Korda, No. 2 Lilia Vu and No. 8 Rose Zhang, who will all represent the United States. Ironically, the Evian Championship will also be played in France at Evian-les-Bains and the Evian Resort Golf Club.

This week, Korda hopes to turn things around after missing three straight cuts, including at two majors — the U.S. Women’s Open and the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship. Before that, she had won six times in seven starts. Céline Boutier is the returning champion—in her home country, no less—but she hasn’t made much noise this year, so eyes are mostly focused elsewhere.
Korda is currently tied for 21st place at two under par. Leading the pack after round one is a three-way tie at seven under par between Patty Tavatanakit, Ingrid Lindblad and Gemma Dryburgh. Six golfers are tied at six under par, including two-time major champion Lydia Ko, setting up for a thrilling weekend of golf.
