Lille and Lyon each have a chance to close in on Ligue 1’s pace-setters when the pair face-off on Friday.
Former Lyon boss Bruno Genesio will face-off against his former employers when high-flying Lille welcomes Les Gones to the Decathlon Arena on Friday, with each seeking a place in Ligue 1’s upper echelons. Les Dogues sit fourth in the table entering Week 10 and are seven games unbeaten across all competitions as they attempt to close the distance on league leader Paris Saint-Germain. Les Parisiens also happen to be the only team to beat Lille on its own turf so far this season, but a Lyon team with 10 goals across its last three away fixtures could possess the key to double that tally.

Lille lost four games in a row across August and September but has quickly ascended back to title race contention, not to mention mustering some fine results in the Champions League.
After beating both Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid in Europe recently, the club saw two goals in the 98th and 101st minutes then seal a historic 2-0 victory away to Lens this past Sunday.
It was on the same day that Lyon twice gave up the lead to draw 2-2 at home to Auxerre, just a few days after losing 1-0 at home to Besiktas in the Europa League.
Pierre Sage’s men remain a threat considering they’ve been one of Ligue 1’s more impressive travelers this term, earning as many points on the road as they have at home.
Les Gones came from two goals down to beat Lille 4-3 when these teams met at the Decathlon Arena in May, with four of the seven goals scored after the 82nd minute.
