Nemesio Díez Stadium is set to host the exciting weekend matchup between home side Toluca and visiting side Club América on Saturday in Liga MX action. Last week, several marquee matchups around the league set the stage for the upcoming final matchday of the regular season campaign. The action began on Tuesday with three matches on the slate. The first was a scoreless finish between León and Mazatlán in Guanajuato. Then, El Rebaño Sagrado visited Santos Laguna at Corona Stadium. Cade Cowell and Yael Padilla were both able to find the back of the net to secure all three points away from home for Chivas. Meanwhile, the last match on Tuesday night was the one between Pumas UNAM and Querétaro. José Caicedo and Piero Quispe both got on the scoresheet to give the Mexico City club the win at Olímpico Universitario Stadium.

The 16th matchweek of the tournament continued on Wednesday when the winningest team in league history Club América took a 2-1 finish over Pachuca at Cuauhtémoc Stadium. Alejandro Zendejas and Alan Cervantes both scored to secure all three points for las Águilas.
Then, Tigres UANL and Toluca met in Monterrey in a battle between two of the top three clubs in the league this season. André-Pierre Gignac and Juan Brunetta found the back of the net to give the hosts all three points over the visiting Diablos Rojos.
The final matches of matchday 16 consisted of draws between Necaxa and San Luis (1-1), Atlas and Cruz Azul (2-2) and FC Juárez and Club Tijuana (1-1).
