With both teams set to square off in the second semifinal of the Big Ten Tournament in Evanston, No. 15 Penn State takes on No. 25 Rutgers at Martin Stadium on Thursday afternoon. Following a win over Ohio State in the quarterfinals, Penn State has won three consecutive games to improve to 10-6 overall with a 4-2 mark in conference play this season. Rutgers, on the other hand, advanced to the semifinals by upsetting No. 3 seed Maryland in the quarterfinals. The Scarlet Knights are 8-9 overall and 1-5 in the Big Ten this season. Earlier this year, Penn State upset Rutgers in overtime by a final score of 10-9 in March to earn their first conference win of the season. The winner will face the winner of Northwestern vs. Johns Hopkins in the Big Ten Championship on Saturday.

Most recently, Penn State took down Ohio State in a 15-13 victory in the quarterfinals at Panzer Stadium. Gretchen Gilmore led the way with five points on four goals and one assist. The Nittany Lions will now appear in the semifinals for the first time since 2021.
As for Rutgers, the Scarlet Knights upset Maryland in a 9-8 victory in the quarterfinals in College Park last Saturday. Cassidy Spilis scored four goals in the win, while Tini Payton added two goals and Ava Kane and Mikayla Dever scored one apiece.
No. 2 seed Penn State faces off against No. 6 seed Rutgers in the Big Ten semifinals on Thursday.
