How to Watch Real Betis vs. Atletico Madrid: Stream La Liga Live, TV Channel

Atletico Madrid travels to Real Betis hoping La Liga will provide a welcome distraction from its recent struggles in Europe.

Back-to-back defeats in the Champions League have given Atletico Madrid all the more reason to focus on matters in La Liga as the capital giant prepares to visit Real Betis on Sunday. After being pulverized by Portuguese powerhouse Benfica a little over three weeks ago, Los Rojiblancos were embarrassed by Lille and lost 3-1 at home on Wednesday to throw their chances of progressing into doubt. Betis suffered continental disappointment of its own after drawing at home to Copenhagen in the Europa Conference League on Thursday and is now targeting a first win over Atleti in more than five years.

While the Champions League conquest isn’t going to plan, it’s worth noting that third-place Atletico is still yet to taste defeat in La Liga this season—and only rival Real Madrid can say the same.

That run includes clean-sheet away victories over both Athletic Bilbao and Celta Vigo, while Betis has now won just one of its last three home outings in all competitions.

Chimy Avila picked the perfect time to score his first league goal of the season when the Betis forward came up against former club Osasuna a week ago:

The Argentinian will be hoping that strike is the start of something special in Seville, and his next opportunity to prove as much will be a home outing against high-flying Atleti.

Los Rojiblancos are by no means short on their own supply of Argentinian talent, one of whom just so happens to be their man at the helm, Diego Simeone.

In 12 years of competing against Betis, ‘El Cholo’ has lost just one of his 25 encounters with this particular opponent, winning 18 of those and drawing on six occasions.

His record against Betis counterpart and fellow South American Manuel Pellegrini is even more imperious, winning eight times and drawing another four games against the Chilean to date.

    Regional restrictions may apply.
