Riding three-match winning streak, Mallorca aims to remain in top half of table in visit to Espanyol
Winless in three consecutive games, Espanyol returns home in search of its first win since mid-September as Mallorca makes the trip across the Balearc Sea today looking for a third straight away victory and fourth win in as many matches. Espanyol has two wins in its first eight matches despite having netted only seven goals thus far while Mallorca, who has only scored one more goal has collected four wins in the season’s first two months. The Pirates have finished in the top half of La Liga just once in the last 12 seasons having fought its way back from the third tier of Spanish football.

Espanyol forward Javier Puado has a team-high three goals in eight matches this season with all three coming in a 3-2 home victory over Alaves back on Sept 14, having put only one shot on target in the last three matches. The 26-year old Spain native has spent the last five seasons with Espanyol netting a career-best seven goals for Periquitos last season.
After spending six seasons with Girona, Mallorca defender Valery Fernández joined the club on loan and has contributed a team-best two goals in four appearances as a substitute, including the game winning in the 93rd minute of the 2-1 win at Real Valladolid eight days ago.
Mallorca is winless in its last four consecutive La Liga matches against Espanyol dating back to September of 2020 and have not sealed away points in this series since a 2-1 win in March of 2011.
